Why BD 33 USA Roaming Is Unbeatable for Bahrain-US Travelers
Batelco’s BD 33 USA 30-day unlimited roaming pack is genuinely one of the most unique offerings in the entire Middle East. For Bahrain residents traveling to the United States, this single pack often beats every alternative — including buying a US prepaid SIM on arrival.
- Bahraini families visiting US-based relatives— extended visits to children studying at US universities; one pack covers the entire stay without SIM swapping.
- Business travelers on extended US assignments— Aramco engineers, ASRY ship-repair specialists, banking executives on 3-4 week US visits.
- Bahraini students checking out US universities— pre-application campus tours covering East Coast / West Coast in 2-3 weeks.
- Medical tourists— Bahrainis traveling to Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, MD Anderson; medical visits often run 3-4 weeks total.
- Vacation travelers— anyone doing a 3-4 week US road trip (East Coast, California, national parks).
Activation Pitfalls & Real-World Tips
Activate by sending SMS “USA30” to 88188 BEFORE flying — the pack starts when you connect to a US network, not at SMS activation. Sending the SMS from a Bahrain-based Batelco SIM is required; you cannot activate from abroad.
The “unlimited data” has a soft cap around 50GB per 30 days for fair-usage. For 99% of US travelers, this is irrelevant. Only matters if you’re heavily uploading 4K video or running cloud backups.
The “unlimited calls” cover both incoming and outgoing calls within the US, plus calls from the US back to Bahrain. International calls TO third countries (e.g., from US to UK) are NOT included and bill at standard international rates.
SMS is NOT included in the pack. Send WhatsApp / iMessage instead.
If your trip ends before 30 days, the unused portion is not refundable. Plan trip duration accurately before activating.
