Most Du voicemail complaints trace back to one of two causes — the wrong forwarding code active, or a mailbox that quietly filled up — both of which are easy to prevent rather than troubleshoot after the fact.

Conditional forwarding

Most people are better served by **61*171# alone — calls still ring through normally, and only genuinely missed ones land in voicemail.

Preventing a full mailbox

A full mailbox silently rejects new messages without any warning to the caller, which is why “voicemail isn’t working” often turns out to be “voicemail is full.” Dial 171 periodically to clear old messages rather than waiting for callers to report the problem.
